Happiness and social connectedness are inextricably linked, which has been proven in study after study dating back to the early 1900’s. Both happiness and social interaction are now on the decline due to many factors, but in no small part that it is increasingly harder to meet new people, particularly people who share our hobbies, passions and outlook on life.

At Connec we strive to make those connections as simple as possible; no awkward interactions at big group gatherings. No swiping right and hoping for the best. To put it simply, there are no similar apps. Connec is the only app available that allows users to find other individuals based on shared hobbies, and connect with them one-on-one. Not to mention, also discover groups and events based on those hobbies.

First, you set up a basic profile containing basics like your age, gender and location. The most important aspect of your profile is selecting the hobbies that apply to you. These may be hobbies you are currently involved in, or that you are interested in pursuing. By selecting these hobbies you will help other users to find you while searching for friends, and enable Connec to show you Groups and Events in your area most relevant to your interests.
Next, run a search. You can search for a single hobby with the magnifying glass icon, or set up an advanced search with various filters using the sliders icon, where you can search multiple hobbies at once and in different locations around the globe.
Send that user a friend request. Once they have accepted it, you will be able to chat and exchange media with them. Hopefully, you will be connecting over your shared hobbies and interests in no time.
With Connec, not only can you search for other individuals but also for Groups and Events. These have been created by fellow Connec users and will be directly related to the hobbies you have searched for.
Groups are digital meeting places where groups of users can meet (for example a hobby group, creative group or local organization), and Events are one-off events (think a concert, sporting or volunteer event or games night). When you navigate to these you can find information on real-life Groups and Events in your community, as well as access group chats online to connect with others.
Absolutely. Whilst using the app, you have full control over who you talk to and how your personal data is presented (or hidden). You have the ability to report other users and they will be dealt with appropriately by administrators.

You have several privacy options you can toggle on and off. Navigate to your Profile - Profile Settings - Privacy. Here you can choose to display your hobbies on your profile, your relevant groups and events, make your account private or hide your profile from searches altogether.
We’re sorry to hear that! We will be doing our best to keep the app up-to-date and bug free, but like any new product there is likely to be a few hiccups along the way. Feel free to report any glitches to info@connec.app and we will do our best to rectify them as soon as we can.
In the meantime, make sure you are running the most recent version and your internet connection is stable, and try resetting your device if the issue is ongoing.
It is important to us that the free version of Connec is fully serviceable to meet and connect with other users, to forge new connections and make new friends. However, the paid version allows you a few key extra features.
For instance, you can create and admin as many Groups and Events as your heart desires. You can also move your search location to anywhere in the world. Planning a trip, or making a fresh start in another location? Create a friend group and browse local events before you’ve even arrived.
Lastly, you can search as many hobbies in the advanced search at any one time as you like. With the free version, this is capped at 5. Ever wondered who your hobby doppelgänger on the other side of the world is? Wonder no more.
The biggest perk with a paid subscription is being able to create Groups and Events. When you do so, you ‘tag’ a group of hobbies directly related to your group or event. This can be a creative project, small business, hobby group, community organisation.. literally anything you’d want to draw more attention to. Now, when a user runs a search containing any of these tagged hobbies, your group/event will show up in the results. This way you are putting your project in front of those that are seeking it.
With the paid version, you can also move your search radius to anywhere in the world. Are you moving location soon and would like to meet like-minded people before touching down? This feature is perfect for you. Maybe you are traveling and want to make deeper connections on the go? You can do this with the tap of a button. Connec worldwide baby!
Lastly, with the premium version you can also search for any number of hobbies simultaneously. Yes, this will net you more accurate results when searching for other users, groups and events. But we love the idea of searching for your hobby twin in some remote corner of the world.
